10:30 1 Boot: Westerleigh, The Dramway & Burbarrow Lane (Brunel Plus)

A mainly flat walk using field paths and lanes in the countryside between Westerleigh and Pucklechurch, with views over Bristol and the surrounding countryside. We start by heading west across fields to join the Dramway, following this to cross Folly Brook to reach the 16th Century Lydegreen Farmhouse. We then head gradually uphill to the long rows of former miners’ houses at Parkfield to cross fields around Pucklechurch to join Burbarrow Lane, which we follow to Westerleigh Hill and back to Westerleigh. Optional garden centre cafe afterwards.

Bring a packed lunch. After the walk we’ll go to a tea shop.

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
