Event Date: Sun 4 March 2018
Event Time: 10:30

8 miles

New Members’ Walk – all welcome, just turn up. A mainly flat walk on the Severn Plain. Having crossed the Pegwell Brake footbridge over the M5, we head for the viewpoint over the Severn at Upper Almondsbury before descending into Almondsbury, leaving through a working orchard. We then follow field paths and bridleways alongside several rhines, returning via the Cattybrook brick works along a raised path giving views of the working clay pits on one side and the Severn Bridges on the other. An optional tea break at a local garden centre will precede the short climb to the M5.

Bring a packed lunch. After the walk we’ll go to a tea shop.

Walk Leader: Philip T (07748 701251)

Meet: 10:30 at the Parade car park, Littleton Court, accessed via Blakeney Rd off Coniston Rd, Patchway.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
