This walk starts in the picturesque village of Freshford with views over the river Avon and the canal. After Freshford we follow the valley along the river Frome in the direction of Rode, returning over undulating country via the river Avon and the canal.

Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.

Meet: 10:00am at Freshford in the layby next to the cemetery about 200m east of the village hall (BA2 7UR, grid ref 786600). You can get there by taking the A36 (Warminster Road) from Bath, then turn into Freshford at sign for Homewood Park Hotel, turn left after 400m, sharp right after 200m. Village hall/shop is down this road on left then the layby is about 200m further down on the right. Parking may also be possible further down the road near the primary school.

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
