10:00 1 Boot: Three Grand Houses and Two Hill Forts (Joint Walk)

An easy-paced. scenic, mainly flat walk using field paths and lanes, with a couple of short climbs to the hill forts at Horton and Old Sodbury. We will also pass Lyegrove House and Horton Court, as well as walking through several features of the Badminton Estate such as the deer park (with views of Badminton House), the Lime Avenue and Seven Mile Plantation (not all of it!) Suitable for most new members. Possible church teas or pub after.

Bring a packed lunch. After the walk we’ll go to a tea shop.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
