A flat walk exploring the wide vistas of the Severn Vale north of Thornbury, starting along Northfield Lane (probably muddy), before a bracing 2km stretch alongside the Severn Estuary passing Chapel House and the channel lights. We then turn inland along Longpool and Stuckmoor Lanes to reach Brick House Farm, before passing through the parkland in front of the 19th Century Hill Court to reach Hill Village Hall for tea before the final mile to return to Rockhampton. Suitable for most potential new members. Walking boots advised. Parking limited, car share if possible.

Bring a packed lunch.

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
