9.45 1 Boot: Dolbury Delight (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 27 August 2017
Event Time: 9.45

5 miles

For beauty, variety and great views try this picturesque 5 mile walk which is moderate / easy apart from a short climb, in the Mendip Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We start from a former mining village on Mendip, through woodland whilst following the stream, then take a steep climb up to the grassy top of an ancient hill fort before dropping back down to a stony bridleway through a peaceful valley.  Can be muddy and wet underfoot when walking along the stream so please wear good walking boots.

Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.

Walk Leader: Rosie U (07950717952)

Meet: 9.45 at the carpark opposite St. Mary Redcliffe Church

Alternatively meet at 10:30 at Shipham Village Hall car park
Please contact the walk leader if you will be meeting them there.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
