10.15am, 2 Boot: Rolling hills, Woods, Villages, a Pub and a Roman Villa! (Joint walk)

Event Date: Sun 9 April 2017
Event Time: 10.15

12 miles

This is a really lovely walk and well worth making the trip up from Bristol.
We will start from a layby near to Hampnett and walk over to the village of Chedworth where we will stop at the Seven Tuns pub for a liquid refreshment (there is no pub at the end of the walk) before making our way through the woods to the Roman Villa. We won’t go in, however we may fancy an ice cream!
Allow one hour and fifteen minutes journey time from Bristol.

Bring a packed lunch.

Walk Leader: Sue C (07812 666418)

We will meet at 10.15am in a makeshift layby Grid ref- SP 088 152 by a closed road. If coming from Cheltenham direction on the A40 drive past “the Garniche at Puesdown” pub (postcode GL54 4DN) on the left and take the next right signposted Yanworth and Compton Abdale. Follow the road for a mile until you see the road closed sign and the walk leader’s red car.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
