09:15 2 Boot: Castle Combe and Thickwood (Joint Walk)

Starting in Castle Combe we will first head west along Broadmead Brook almost as far as West Kington where we will turn south and head to North Wraxhall, after which we will drop into a wooded valley before reaching Thickwood. We will then loop round to Ford via Slaughterfored following the By Brook and head back to Castle Combe. Please note this walk can be very muddy in places.

Please bring Packed Lunch. Pub to finish.

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
