Today’s walk takes us into Wales – just.
Our route is moderately hilly, with 1,800 feet of ascent throughout the day. Along the way, we pass the still-occupied castle at Penhow and a reconstructed medieval village.
From Gray Hill there should be great views to the River Severn and beyond, but we’ll have to climb to earn them!
We won’t see the “big house” that gives our walk it’s name, but we will pass an interesting monument to their “loyal retainer”.
Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.
