09:00 2 Boot: Red Kites, White Horses and Bluebells (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 15 April 2018
Event Time: 09:00

11 miles

A lovely and varied walk that takes in a ridgeway on the Marlborough Downs, a bluebell wood, a ruined medieval village and part of the Wansdyke. There are a couple of ascents but nothing too steep.

We may be a little early for the bluebells to be out fully (it will depend on the spring weather). Red kites cannot be promised either, although they did appear on the prewalk. The white horse is guaranteed given that it is made of chalk and carved into the hillside, therefore unlikely to move anywhere.

Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.

Walk Leaders: Kirstie G (07967452060) and Barbara R (07866661199)

Meet: 09:00 at St. Mary Redcliffe

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
