08:45 2 Boot: Hills not Mountains #1: Talybont-on-Usk (20s & 30s)

Event Date: Sun 15 July 2018
Event Time: 08:45

11 miles

**For anyone NOT interested in watching the World Cup Final!**

First of the Hills not Mountains series aimed at enjoying the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons National Park without climbing any actual mountains. There are two main hills on this walk – the highest at 551m which commands some splendid views. Initially climbing via a gentle gradient the walk does include some short but steep ascents and descents, as well as, picturesque river valleys and canal-side ambles.

Although not a mountain the hills are still fairly high and exposed, so even in sunny weather please bring adequate 4 season protection i.e. plenty of water, sunscreen, warm clothes and waterproofs!

Toilets at car park are 10p so please bring change.

Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.

Walk Leader: Jo C (07790761989)

Meet: 08:45 at St. Mary Redcliffe

Alternatively meet at 10:00 at Talybont-on-Usk Car Park, Brecon LD3 7YQ

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
