08:30 2 Boot: Exmoor Escapade (20s & 30s)

Event Date: Sat 4 August 2018
Event Time: 08:30

11-12 miles

The aim of this walk is to bag Dunkery Beacon which marks the highest point in both Exmoor and Somerset. The scenery will be varied with a lot of moorland interspersed with woodland tracks and fields. Weather permitting there will be fantastic views and classic Exmoor scenery throughout.

This walk is undulating and there are a handful of long-ish uphill climbs but they are not too steep and the views make the effort more than worthwhile. There are also a few stream crossings and it could be boggy in places so waterproof boots are recommended.

Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.

Walk Leader: Jenny N (07933041775)

Meet: 08:30 at The Water Tower (Clifton)

Alternatively meet at 10:00 at Wheddon Cross Village Car Park, TA24 7DR
Please contact the walk leader if you will be meeting them there.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
