0800 2 Boot: Waun Rydd Loop (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 20 May 2018
Event Time: 0800

**This walk has been rescheduled from the original date of 29 April 2018**

11 miles

An exploration of the Eastern Brecon Beacons. After a steep climb (the only one of the day) we will follow the escarpment edges to visit the crash site of a Wellington bomber and a very shapely cairn, as well as the diving board at Fan y Big.

It can be very windy on the Brecon Beacons, so bring warm layers, hats, gloves etc. (always a good idea when heading to the mountains whatever the time of year)

The early start is necessary due to limited parking.

Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.

Walk Leader: Graham H (07904453709)

Meet: 0800 at St. Mary Redcliffe

Alternatively meet at 09:45 at Blaen y Glyn Uchaf car park
Please contact the walk leader if you will be meeting them there.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
