| Just
occasionally, a change to our walks programme may
be necessary. We will endeavour to update the website,
but the best way to make sure you have the latest
programme is to be on our email list. That way you
get your new and amended programmes without having
to check back here - and it's probably much easier
to print! |

You
don't necessarily need to do a lot to be prepared
for a day's walking, but
please read our 'Before

and what to bring, to make sure you and everyone
else has an enjoyable and safe day. |

Walk
Gradings |
|
To
choose an appropriate walk please read the walk
descriptions along with their gradings - we grade
our walks from 1 boot to 3, as explained below.
Walks with a + sign after the grading indicate
that the terrain or pace of the walk will be slightly
harder or faster than would be expected for the
associated number. A “Bring packed lunch”
in the walk description means that the lunch stop
will be away from shops or pubs and refreshments
will not be available en-route.... |
|
|
|
Less
than 16km/10miles generally on recognizable paths,
between 2 to 5 hours walking at a reasonably gentle
pace. May involve an occasional hill but always
includes time to stop and look around. |
|
|
|
Up
to 22km/14miles and between 4 to 7 hours walking
at a moderate pace. The terrain is likely to include
hills and some rough ground. It will be suitable
for most walkers or anyone of reasonable fitness. |
|
|
|
A
full day of fairly strenuous walking, generally
over 22km/14miles and may involve long steep ascents
and descents, with the possibility of exposed
ridges and the odd scramble (often not on recognized
paths). If you are new to the group please check
with the leader about the difficulty of the walk.

Theatre
Evening – “A Month in the Country” performed
by Bristol Old Vic Theatre School at the
Tobacco Factory, Bedminster.
“A
comic classic of the world theatre, written
in the mid-nineteenth century by the dashing
Russian novelist Ivan Turgenev. At the heart
of the action is a comfortable aristocratic
household which is shaken out of its apparent
stability by the arrival of an eager young
student, who has a domino effect on each
of them. Turgenev uses the complex interplay
of love, esteem and affection, to explore
the fragilities of human relationships,
with comic results. Now a refreshing version
of the play comes from the pen of Brian
Friel, the leading contemporary Irish dramatist
(Dancing at Lughnasa, Translations) who
has clothed it in a language sparkling in
its humour and utterly contemporary in its
feel.”
Tickets
are £13. Names, please, by 31 May at the
latest.

Walk |
Keynsham
and Kelston. 9 miles
Taking
advantage of the long evening to squeeze
in some miles and a couple of bumps with
great views of Bristol and Bath, as well
as walking beside the river. This
won’t be a bimble, more a chance to use
up some energy, though still at a chatting
pace! It will finish in the gloom
so you may want a torch.
Depart:
Leaving the Lockkeeper pub in Keynsham at 7pm. This is only a few hundred metres
from the train station, so that may help
you get there, and is also easily accessible
from the ring road.
